SDF Releases Footage Allegedly Showing ISIS Prisoners
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have released video footage that they claim shows prisoners from the terrorist organization ISIS, alleging that the Syrian army liberated them from captivity.
Commenting on the footage, the SDF said: "The moment when Damascus factions stormed the Al-Shaddadah prison, which houses thousands of ISIS members, and brought them out of the prison by these factions."
Earlier on Sunday, the Syrian Transitional Phase President Ahmed Al-Shar’ signed an agreement with SDF commander Mazloum Abdi. The agreement includes, among other provisions, an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire between the two parties across all fronts. Under the deal, the Syrian government will assume full control of border crossings, oil and gas fields in the region, and fully integrate the SDF forces into Syrian state institutions, including the Ministries of Interior and Defense, following necessary security vetting.
The agreement stipulates the immediate administrative and military handover of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa provinces to the Syrian government, as well as the integration of all civil institutions in Al-Hasakah province into Syrian state structures and administrative frameworks.
It also obliges the SDF to remove all non-Syrian members and leaders of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) from Syrian territory to ensure sovereignty and regional stability. According to the agreement, responsibility for managing ISIS prisons and camps, as well as the forces tasked with guarding them, will transfer to the Syrian government, which will assume full legal and security oversight.
Since the SDF began withdrawing from the Deir Hafer area in the Aleppo countryside early yesterday, the Syrian army has been able to deploy across former SDF-controlled areas in Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, and Raqqa. The army has taken control of all oil fields, dams, and airports in these areas, including the Al-Omar oil field, Syria’s largest, and the Conoco gas field in the east of the country.
